Extremly slow graphic in centOS 7

Post by Comum » 2014/11/06 11:15:27

Hello everyone.

I've installed a centOS 7 basic web server with GUI. And for some reason my centOS installation is really slow, I suspect it is because of the graphics card. The only thing that works normally is the movement of the mouse. Any other tasks takes forever to occur.

My machine specs are:

Processor: Quad-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 2350 x 8
OS Type: 64-bit
RAM: 15.6 Gib
Graphics card: Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 3.3, 128bits)
Disk: 290.8 GB
GNOME: Version 3.8.4

I've run the top command and as soon as the information pops the cpu percentage usage of the gnome-shell spikes to 80% and then drops and stays at between 18-20%. There is only this process that has some relevance, as I'm not running anything at the moment. Just trying to fix the response time.

Does anyone know if it really is because of my graphics, or it could be any other aspect? And how can I fix this, as it takes forever to do anything?

Also, this is my first post, so if it does not belong where I posted it, can an admin move it to its proper place?

Thanks in advance.

Even if you don't use a VM, see here: viewtopic.php?f=47&t=47614#p209717. The solution is the same.
