[Solved] Will not boot after Kernel 3.10.0-123.13.2 update

Post by NickC » 2015/01/19 18:34:11

CentOS 7 machine will not boot using the current Kernel 3.10.0-123.13.2.el7.x86_64. If I select the earlier kernel 3.10.0-123.8.1.el7.x86_64 boot up fine.

Error seems to be /dev/disk/by-uuid/... does not exist
dracut-initqueue[254] warning could not boot
starting dracut emergency shell

Can I somehow get grub to default to the earlier kernel for the moment until a fix is found?

You might want to uninstall/reinstall the current kernel to see if the problem goes away.

Tried uninstalling/reinstalling but same problem.

Warning: Not all disks have been found
You might want to regenerate your initramfs

Have uninstalled this and reverted to earlier version of the kernel for the moment.

Now uninstalled that kernel and gone back to the earlier version, now boots fine.

Thanks,

In the future try to remove the options "rhgb" and "quiet" from the kernel arguments (GRUB2)
