trying to kick a centos 7 vm. using vmware and connected the DVD to the cdrom. receiving

error: invalid magic number
error: you need to load the kernel first

Did you checksum your downloaded iso image? If you did then it looks like a bad DVD burn.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
Info for USB installs on http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
