"How do I move a user directory to a RAID volume?"

Post by ag2231 » 2015/03/11 15:56:54

Hello,

I need to move our 'User's' home directory to the attached RAID in order to deal with the large amount of data each user will generate. I used to be able to easily set this in CentOS 5.6, but this new version of CentOS 7 has a very simple user creation dialog window that only allows for user name and password, and group. Can anyone point me in the correct direction to do a more detailed configuration of the user account via the GUI?

If all home directories are to be located other than /home then you can edit /etc/default/useradd and specify the location there.

Or, in that case, a better solution is to mount the RAID volume on /home in the first place.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
