Dear all,
I am using CentOS 7 on PC with a hardware configuration of:
Mainboard: Asus P7P55 LX
CPU: Intel i5-750
RAM: Samsung 2GB*4
HDD: WD (blue) 500GB
Graphic: AMD HD5450 1GB
Yesterday, when I had typed the password for software-update for few minutes (more than 400 updates, it must not pass downloading stage), all of sudden, the PC directly shutdown and rebooted. Thereafter, the system cannot be started.
More details:
After passing GRUB, the console showed as:
[OK] Started Show Plymouth Boot Screen.
[OK] Reached target Paths.
[OK] Found device /dev/mapper/centos-root.
Starting File System Check on /dev/mapper/centos-root...
[OK] Started dracut initqueue hook.
systemd-fsck[419]: /sbin/fsck.xsf: XFS file system.
[OK] Started File System Check on /dev/mapper/centos-root.
Mounting /sysroot...
[OK] Reached target Initrd Root File System.
Starting Reload Configuration from the Real Root...
[OK] Started Reload Configuration from the Real Root.

[OK] Reached target Initrd Default Target.

Since here, the system hangs and no responses against keyboards.
In GRUB, I realized that the partition for CentOS system cannot be recognized, i.e., "ls" command returned unknown filesystem without UUID. Meanwhile, SWAP partition was detected as "Filesystem type xfs".
Would you help me out of this problem? Many thanks.

Re: Kernel panic - not syncing.
Make sure your fans are running.
I would run memtest86 at least overnight.
It sounds like a RAM or thermal failure.

Re: Kernel panic - not syncing.
Many thanks for your suggestion. Both the CPU and case fans works well. And I have run memtest for 8hr, it showed pass5 and error0. Thus, it could not due to fans or RAM problem.gerald_clark wrote:Make sure your fans are running.
