CentOS-7-i386-Everything-1611.iso - local repository problems

Post by misty » 2017/02/25 10:33:55

Hi,

I'm currently playing around with iPXE and iSCSI boot of various operating systems - mainly Windows, however I'm now dipping my toe into the Linux world.

I successfully installed the 64-bit CentOS build without any problems using the http://mirror.centos.org/centos/7/os/x86_64 repository.

As I'm likely to be experimenting and wanted to be able to install from my LAN I downloaded CentOS-7-i386-Everything-1611.iso.

First problem - SOFTWARE - INSTALLATION SOURCE was not found. Looks like all files in the /repodata directory were missing the required file extensions. I fixed this by renaming the files based on the names in /repodata/repomd.xml (I renamed 05af2b56e995c35559b0c560c0b1f1da59d953eec6a78be9930e2e7d26275fa2 to 05af2b56e995c35559b0c560c0b1f1da59d953eec6a78be9930e2e7d26275fa2-other.sqlite.bz2 for example).

That solved the SOFTWARE - INSTALLATION SOURCE problem.

During the first install attempt I received an error due to gnome-shell-extension-launch-new-instance-3.14.4-21.el7.noarch.rpm not being found.

On checking the contents of the /Packages directory copied from my CentOS-7-i386-Everything-1611.iso source, I noticed that the required file was missing the correct file extension - /Packages/gnome-shell-extension-launch-new-instance-3.14.4-21.el7.noarch.r

List of files that appear to be incorrectly named are -
  • - google-noto-sans-syriac-estrangela-fonts-20141117-5.el7.noarch.r
  • - google-noto-sans-old-south-arabian-fonts-20141117-5.el7.noarch.r
  • - gnome-shell-extension-workspace-indicator-3.14.4-21.el7.noarch.r
  • - gnome-shell-extension-launch-new-instance-3.14.4-21.el7.noarch.r
  • - apache-commons-collections-testframework-3.2.1-22.el7_2.noarch.r
  • - texlive-texconfig-bin-svn27344.0-38.20130427_r30134.el7.noarch.r
  • - texlive-latex-bin-bin-svn14050.0-38.20130427_r30134.el7.noarch.r
I've renamed all of these files (changing the file extension from .r to .rpm) and am in the process of installing again. All appears to be going well so far.
