UAS Driver problems

Post by unix_commando » 2017/05/24 16:29:33

Greetings,

Last night I added 2 SATA drives to my CentOS 7 host via USB3 adapters. I've had nothing but problems since I did this and I can see the UAS driver continually being reset and eventually the drive fails. I've tested one of the drives on my Mac and I don't see any problems so I'm thinking the problem is the UAS driver itself. I've seen references to similar problems in Debian and Suse where the solution is to blacklist the device in UAS so it uses BOT instead. I don't see evidence that the Debian/Suse solution works for CentOS, has someone tried this? Or is there another solution to UAS problems?

Thanks
-Bob

I think I found my own problem. The drives I was using didn't have their own power, they were drawing it from the USB bus. I think my bus was unable to supply enough power, so I put splitter USB cables on the drive and supply power from an external supply and it looks like it may have fixed the problem.
