helps for system freezing randomly per month

Hi
I built a small server:
Intel 16 Core Xeon E5-2683 v4 x 2
EEC memory x 4
supermicro mother board

I installed CentOS 7.x and update to last release but after I run for 3 months, it looks hanging or freezing every month (not exact same time around one month). I try to log everything, it looks no any errors in my /var/log/message and I did an memorytest by memtest86 for one and half day two rounds no any error. and I also do a stresstest for 720 hours without any error. do you have any ideas how to debug the error?

As you say server, I doubt this is the issue, but one never knows. Do you possibly run X on it? If so, do you have an NVidia card, and are you using the Nouveau drivers? I ask this because that's the sort of thing I used to see frequently (on desktops though, not servers) when trying to use the Nouveau drivers.

thanks your reply

Yes I use the driver. After freezing , I even cannot ssh to it. I do not use GUI a lot, I run the program under command line. But I can see the fan is running. I try to replace all hardware components already. The Nvidia card I used is very old card GT 7xx.

If you mean you use the Nouveau driver, the first thing I'd say is to use elrpo's NVidia driver.

And, can you ping your server when it freezes?

If not, something running inside the kernel is locking up.

Is the PSU on the way out? I had something similar a few machine generations back. A quick test is pressing the NumLock or CapsLock and see if the LEDs light/go out. I ended up with all sorts of additional fans and open windows to keep the thing running until the PSU eventually blew with a big bang. Once a new one was fitted it ran fine.
