Hi,
I'm trying CentOS in VMware and I am getting choppy video playback (video is choppy, sound is ok) when I install CentOS 7 1611. Host OS is Windows 7, the CentOS guest has 1 CPU and 2GB RAM.
If I do a clean install of 1511 with KDE and then install VLC, video playback is fine. After "yum update" and reboot the video gets choppy.
In case of 1611 it's choppy right after the installation.
Can I somehow fix this or should I wait for more updates (I have tried Fedora 25 - it works fine there)?
Thanks

Re: Choppy video playback in CentOS 7 1611
I'd recommend trying mplayer or mpv to try to narrow down if it is a CentOS issue or a VLC issue.

Re: Choppy video playback in CentOS 7 1611
Ok, I have tried smplayer and the result was the same - all good on a fresh 1511 install, choppy after update. VLC consumed about 25% cpu, mplayer about 20%. I have also tried a random youtube video in Firefox, and it was fine both before and after update. I'll try to experiment with different video formats and codecs in VLC/mplayer.scottro wrote:I'd recommend trying mplayer or mpv to try to narrow down if it is a CentOS issue or a VLC issue.

So I've tried various video formats, all with the same result as before. Some update between 1511 and 1611 seems to be causing this. Has anyone heard about this problem happening at all?
