What users are safe to delete?

Post by rmdurtschi » 2018/01/17 22:01:03

When you install Centos 7 there are a number of users that are created such as games, operator, colord, ntp, etc. I was wondering which of these users I can safely delete?

I wouldn't touch anything with a UserID less than 1000. Most of them are used by the system itself, often for security reasons. For instance, ntp (network time protocol) keeps your date/time up to date.

- A number of years ago, we finally convinced a co-worked to break down and get a computer. He bought An apple. Two days later I got a call from his wife that it wouldn't even start up any more. When I asked her what happened her reply was, "Nothing. It worked great. I just erased a bunch of stuff we didn't need". {the bulk of the O.S.}
