HELP! Screenlock not working

Post by zachow » 2018/01/25 14:21:44

Hi,

I have been battling with this for days... I cannot get the screenlock to work!

Heres the setup:

I had a Centos7 server with minimal (no GUI) install.
I then logged in with SSH, and installed a Gnome desktop.
I then installed and configured XRDP to run on this server.
When I remote to the server, there is no screensaver and no screenlock. I have tried changing the settings and it doesnt matter what time I set the screenlock and screensaver to, the XRDP session remains open.

I need a 15 minute timer, so that the user has to re-enter the password after 15 minutes.

Any support would be MUCH appreciated.

Thanks,

Zac.

I have tried to get gnome-screensaver working with no success...

Anyone have any ideas / anything I can do to diagnose?

Thanks.

Zac.

A remote session is not the same thing as the local console session. Are you sure there's even anything there to lock once you disconnect?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

Hi Trevor,

Thanks for your reply!
So basically your saying anything that is screen-saver related wont work because it is a remote session not a local session?

In which case, how can I get a session, via SSH or xRDP to be disconnected after 10 minutes or so of IDLE time?

Thanks,

Zac/
