Hey Guys,
I just got some hardware to support Plex Hardware Transcoding. It functions out of the box with CentOS 7.
I have found after about 20 seconds of Hardware Transcoding the entire system becomes unstable and crashes in a frozen state... I have to do a hard reset to get things back online.
Any ideas where I should be looking for answers?
Here are the specifics:
Hardware
Motherboard - SuperMicro X11SSH-LN4F, Chipset 236
CPU - Intel Xeon 1275V6 (Intel Quick Sync Support)
Ram - 32Gb DDR4
Software:
OS CentOS 7.4 64Bit, Kernal 3.10.0-693.17.1.el7.x86_64
Plex - 1.11.3.4793 64Bit

Monitor your temperatures, especially cpu.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Hey Mate,
CPU is around 66C when im experiencing issues. That was my first thought also but 66C seems fine right?

Re: Hardware Transcoding Crashing CentOS 7
Probably though that does depend on the exact cpu model etc. Some have higher thresholds than others. Also if you are not measuring this directly at the time of the crash - e.g. if you are crashing then entering to BIOS to check the temperature - then it may have cooled considerably before you can see what it is.
Open the case, make sure the cpu fan is spinning properly.

The ipmi should provide realistic temp log.Just access the remote management and check the temps.
