If your root filesystem is mounted readonly then run mount -o remount,rw / then modify the file and then do the same but remount,ro.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

If selinux is enabled, once booted run
