CentOS + Apache?

Post by heyhowdy » 2018/02/16 16:24:47

Sorry for such a super basic question, but I haven't done this in a few years. In the past when I've installed CentOS, it has come preinstalled with Apache. Does it no longer come with that bundled? Or maybe I've just had silly luck twice in a row with versions that do not have it embedded?

If it got dropped, just out of curiosity, why?

We still ship Apache httpd as part of the distro but it won't be installed by default unless you select one of the "Web Server" type roles in the software selection screen during the install. Post install, you can install it using yum install httpd as normal.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
