Hello
I was running Centos 7.4 (3.10.0-693.11.6.e17.x86_64) and when I Updated to the (3.10.0-693.17.1.e17.x86_64)
my computer is freezing on the boot
I usually disable gdm reboot and update then reboot again then I check that I have the matching kernel-devel and then I reinstall my Nvidia drivers
and the re-enable gdm and restart this procedure used to work fine with me.
this time I disabled the gdm reboot then run the yum update and on reboot this time my boot froze ( Image attached sorry about the camershot)
I have the MSI X299A Raider motherboard with the i7 7820X 8-core processor and Nvidia 1080gtx runing the Nvidia drivers NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-384.111
When I boot to the rescue mode I don't have internet (I use a usb wifi Panda stick) and all my drives are umounted is there a solution to that.
Thanks a lot any help would be very appreciated
Regards
Ahmed Barakat

Re: Boot freeze after update
Ok I managed to resolve it
in case anyone else run into that
I managed to ssh the computer then I used yum clean all, reinstalled gnome, reinstalled gdm, rebuilt Nvidia drivers, enabled gdm and reboot.
that fixed for me.
Cheers

Re: Boot freeze after update
Check into the numerous posts here about using the kmods, 'nvidia-detect', etc. so you need not rebuild every time you get a kernel update. It's so much nicer if you can get it to work.
