Machine named as Android

Post by navigm » 2018/02/19 11:02:54

Hi,
when logging directly as root on CentOS (locally, not remotely), i am listed as root@android-alphanumeric_string. Why the machine is named as an Android machine, even if it's an actual web server?
Thank you

I would guess it's getting that name from your DHCP server.

Or from your DNS server via a reverse lookup on its ip address.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
