Failed to Initialize NVidia GPU

Post by afagund » 2018/03/13 17:26:27

Hello,

I was having issues with nouveau drivers, then was advised here in another thread to use NVidia proprietary drivers. I installed the drivers from Elrepo using nvidia-detect and now I am having issues to start X.

Looking at Xorg logs I see the following:

Failed to initialize the NVIDIA GPU at PCI:1:0:0.

I can confirm my GPU is at PCI:1:0:0 using lspci.

Hope someone have any idea.

Thanks!
Andre

Problem fixed buying a new graphic card. If you have a Nvidia GTX 650, forget, it won't work with either nouveau or nvidia proprietary drivers. I tried every combination of drivers and kernel versions and it does not work. I bought a low profile Nvidia card GT210 and graphics were really bad (slow videos, mouse lag) using nouveau, at least proprietary drivers have worked in this case.
