Assigning IP address on the setup
Assigning IP address on the setup
When i assign ip address to anaconda, by hitting tab after booting from CentOS CD, and enter "IP= subnet= gateway =" this IP address remain configured on the system after finishing installation, my question is where its saved ? i assigned this IP address to the system before Anaconda configure anything on system before formatting partitioning the hard disk and so on , so how and why the system keep the IP settings after finishing the installation ?
Re: Assigning IP address on the setup
It has always worked that way. If you perform the installation using DHCP then the installed system will also use DHCP. If you give it a fixed ip address then it will use that. It's stored in the same place as usual - /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-$interface.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
