Configuring LDAP on CentOS 7

Post by Anasstaze » 2018/04/23 15:21:50

Hi everbody,

I want to know if it is possible to configure Ldap on CentOS 7, by the same way we do it in CentOS 6.2.
If i take the slapd.conf from the CentOS 6.2 and put it CentOS 7, it's going to work or not ?

Thanks in advance.

CentOS 6 doesn't use slapd.conf, all config is under /etc/openldap/slapd.d.

Both CentOS 6 and 7 ship similar openldap versions, openldap-2.4.40-16.el6.x86_64 and openldap-2.4.44-5.el7.x86_64, they are similar enough so that they should be the same for all intents and purposes. However, in the latest RHEL release notes, there is an entry under the "Deprecated packages" section that says that openldap-servers will be deprecated in a future release. You might want to consider that before you migrate to el7 and choose whatever they recommend as the replacement now rather than later.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
