redhat-lsb.i686 pkg missing in CentOS 7.5

Post by ywfn » 2018/05/15 02:19:55

In CentOS 7.5, the 32-bit version of the redhat-lsb package seems to have gone missing. Anyone know why? Is it a bug?

7.4 includes:

redhat-lsb-4.1-27.el7.centos.1.i686.rpm
redhat-lsb-4.1-27.el7.centos.1.x86_64.rpm

But 7.5 only includes:

redhat-lsb-4.1-27.el7.centos.1.x86_64.rpm

Looks like the 64-bit version hasn't even changed. And all the other redhat-lsb* packages still have their 32-bit version included.

It is a bug. Apparently missed during the QA process. I have filed a bug report.

Great, thanks.

This is blocking us from moving to 7.5 because we require that package for some old software. I guess we would have to create our own custom mirror for our automated KS installations, with that package added back in. Or just handle it specially post-install...

Yes, this is indeed unfortunate. The package will be added to the "updates" repository soon. You can use multiple repositories in kickstart files. If you have both "os" and "updates" repositories defined in your kickstart file, you can install redhat-lsb.i686 just fine.

Yep, we already do that, so I'm sure it'll work out fine once it's in updates. Thanks.

Now I see the redhat-lsb.i686 package in the updates area of one of the mirrors, but it's at the top level instead of inside the Packages directory which seems unusual?

Looking at: https://mirrors.edge.kernel.org/centos/ ... es/x86_64/

Yes, it was initially misplaced, but despite that, yum install redhat-lsb.i686 would have worked because the repodata knew about the oddly placed package. The package has now been moved into Packages at it should.
