CentOS 7.5 Nautilus 100% reproducible crash.
Good day
When trying to add an 'Other Locations' in Nautilus CentOS 7.5, Nautilus always 100% of the time crash with a kernel error.
Here is a short video showing the workflow:
https://youtu.be/dPmTDBRqL_I
This did not happen in 7.4
Both 7.4 and 7.5 runs on VirtualBox 5.2.12 - but as stated before, this did not happen in 7.4
I also did a fresh clean install of both 7.4 and 7.5, and 7.5 exhibits this behaviour irrespective if it was updated or freshly installed.

Which kernel do You have ?
I have noticed similar problem with first kernel of CentOS 7.5 version.
In newest problem probably solved, if not check kernel-ml from elrepo-kernel.

Good day, I am using this kernel:mghe wrote:Which kernel do You have ?

Code: Select all
Linux devbox.localdomain 3.10.0-862.3.2.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon May 21 23:36:36 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
What is the difference between the elrepo kernel en base kernel?
Re: CentOS 7.5 Nautilus 100% reproducible crash.
Kernel from elrepo provide mainline stable version of kernel 4.x
More info: http://elrepo.org/tiki/kernel-ml
Maybe it is problem with amount of RAM in VM 7.5 ?

Re: CentOS 7.5 Nautilus 100% reproducible crash.
Thanks, I tried this. But I can't install the VirtualBox drivers because of missing kernel headers. When trying to install kernel headers I run into a dependency clash with the current base header package, and I don't want to remove the current kernel headers.mghe wrote:Kernel from elrepo provide mainline stable version of kernel 4.x

Hopefully RH or and CentOS and or VB resolves this bug
Re: CentOS 7.5 Nautilus 100% reproducible crash.
Just install 'kernel-ml-devel' for VirtualBox drivers and check. There is not packages conflict. It should be work.

Re: CentOS 7.5 Nautilus 100% reproducible crash.
Thanks was able to install the 4.16 kernel and build the VB drivers.
Machine overall seems a lot more speedier.
However, this crash when trying to mount a ssh location is still there. Bug in Nautilus?
