Post by robertw » 2018/07/03 14:03:13

hi all,

im trying to setup/configure a hard drive manually for my kickstart file

how much space/size should each of the below partitions be and what one should be the biggest, also should they be all xfs format?

normally when i do a install of centos 7 i just tick the hard drive i want linux on and it just does it but how would i do it manually

/
/boot
/home
/var
/tmp
/usr

Probably the easiest way to start with kickstarts is to pick up the /root/anaconda.ks file from an installed system that is set up the way you want it. The file should duplicate the install that you ran manually but the partitioning lines will most likely be commented out (to stop you from blowing away your data by mistake if ever you tried to use it without modification).
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
