system won't sleep/suspend when laptop lid closed

Post by bonedome » 2018/09/05 18:03:04

Hello
as the title suggests, since the latest kernel 3.10.0-862.11.6.el7.x86_64 when I shut the lid the screen stays on and the laptop is still active, it's a dell e6420 any other info required just ask.
I've tried editing /etc/systemd/logind.conf to uncomment the two lines

Code: Select all

HandleSuspendKey=suspend
HandleLidSwitch=suspend
then

Code: Select all

systemctl restart systemd-logind.service
which works on previous kernel but not the latest
Anyone know a way to make it sleep/suspend when the lid's closed.
