Maybe I'm missing something.
I boot the VM, I select 3.10.0-862.14.4.el7.x86_64 - this is the latest one for this VM
I then press 'e' to edit the parameters, and add systemd.unit=rescue.target parameter to the linux16 line, then Ctrl+X
It now reboots and drops to dracut just as I first posted.
VM will not boot after exporting from ESXi in VirtualBox
Re: VM will not boot after exporting from ESXi in VirtualBox
In the grub menu select/boot the kernel with rescue in it's name, and then run the dracut command.
Re: VM will not boot after exporting from ESXi in VirtualBox
Of course, that was what I did last time, been a long day...
It ran, but has this in output
It ran, but has this in output
Code: Select all
Kernel version 3.10.0-862.14.4.el7.x86_64 has no module directory /lib/modules/3.10.0-862.14.4.el7.x86_64
Re: VM will not boot after exporting from ESXi in VirtualBox
Did you try selecting Enable advanced options checkbox to retain UUID, mac when exporting ovf?
Re: VM will not boot after exporting from ESXi in VirtualBox
What is the most recent directory that you have in /lib/modules/ ? That is the version number you need to pass to dracut --kver $version
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
