devtoolset-7-gcc access

Post by gw1500se » 2018/10/23 18:42:02

I've installed devtoolset-7-gcc but I can't find how to enable it or where it was installed. If I run gcc --version, I get the default (4.8.5 20150623) and I can't find gcc from the install. I've read where I am supposed to enable it with 'sc1' but package 'centos-release-sc1' (Software Collections) does not seem to exist for CentOS 7. Can someone help me with this? TIA.

It's scl (SCL) not sc1. You have to do stuff like scl enable name-of-collection bash to get a bash prompt all set up ready to run it.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
