PPTP VPN

Post by bencp » 2018/11/05 18:31:02

Hello all !
I would like to implement a vpn from Windows Machine (Windows 7 for example) to my home network using CentOs 7 Machine.
have tried pptpd but not works as excepted. (If anyone have good tutorial , would like to see it).
And if any one have another package / idea how to implement this , would be great (NOT OPENVPN , I dont want to use any client software)

Regards

Why?
Anyway don't use PPTP as it uses MSCHAPv[1-2] which are very old and now considered insecure (can be reversed quite quickly).

You have to. You can not achieve encryption without each end know that's what you are trying to do.

Perhaps look at StrongSWAN (recommend IKEv2) - a quick Google returns many tutorials.

I will explain why i cant use client software.
Software like openvpn require installation.
Installation require administrator Privilege that i don't have at my work.
When i can do , is to create a vpn connection from the Network and sharing center > Set up a new connection or network > connect to workplace.

Hope you understand , thanks.

Yes I understand. but you don't. Regardless whether the client software is part of the operating system installation or not, it is still client software.

Quick answer (with Windows => 7) use L2TP over IPSec - albeit with the overhead.
