RHEL 7.6 No Longer Supports KDE?!?

OK TrevorH. From what I hear RHEL 7.6 (and by extension CentOS 7.6) no longer supports KDE. So what happens when the Roll-over happens? since I am running KDE? Do I roll over the machine and suddenly have no DE?

You misread your source. The release notes say "A future major release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux will no longer support using KDE" (emphasis mine). A "major release" in this context means RHEL 8.

"Deprecated" means that something will be going away at some point. It is a warning so that users may start planning for alternatives, such as switching to GNOME. It may also mean that Red Hat will put less effort into fixing KDE bugs in the remaining lifetime of 7.x.

The article also says that "Red Hat is moving KDE to EPEL". I don't know where the article author got that, but I have not heard of that. The remark about "RHEL/CentOS 7.6+ users can either use EPEL repo or switch other Linux distros such as..." is misleading -- CentOS 7.x users can continue using the KDE as shipped in CentOS until the lifetime of CentOS 7.x.

Thank you for clearing that up. I had fond visions this was yet another Red Hat "SURPRISE" -- I'd roll over the machine only to get a "SURPRISE": No KDE!!! And with weeks to go before the roll-over that was one SURPRISE I could live without. Again THANK YOU for clearing that up!
