fresh installation with existing second disk

Hi guys, back again requesting your wise advice.
I was told a sever just crash down, this server has two disks. Boot disk will be replaced. Second disk has all data.
If I perform a fresh installation on new drive with second hard disk attached, will the system recognize it or do I need any other steps to make it availdable once the OS is on? The OS version is the same on damaged disk drive.
Appreciate your comments.

Do you know what kind of partitions, file systems etc. the second disk has?
I suggest that you disconnect the disk to reduce the likelihood of loosing any data.
After installing edit /etc/fstab.

Actually, I do no have that information. As far as I know, that server already had those 2 hard drives by the time OS was installed and configured.
Disk1 had OS only and Disk2 data files, no applications. However, the tip you give about unattach second hard drive during installation is wise.
Let's assume I finish OS setup, attach second hard drive, what would be the scenario and what possible outcomes may result?

You have to find out what kind of partitions, file systems etc. the second disk has. You could start with fdisk -l.

The installer will ask which disks you want to use. If you do not tell it to use any of the space/partitions/logical volumes on the 2nd disk then it will not. You can choose from the installer to mount those partitions/LVs on specific mount points during the install (and whether or not to format them) or you can leave it all until after the install and set it up to mount then.
