installation of centos 7 with windows 7 on asus r552j

Post by sudip06 » 2018/11/20 09:19:38

Hi,
I have a r552j asus laptop(256GB ssd, 1TB harddisk). I wanted to install windows 7 along with centos 7. Now, I have 2 partitions in ssd(110Gb, 140Gb) on which I installed windows 7(on 110Gb partition) first. Already, I have another installation of windows on 1Tb partition. Hence, on bootup I get 2 listings(both of windows 7). So far so good. Now, I installed centos 7 on the other partition of ssd. like this:

download/file.php?mode=view&id=2541

While installation of centos, it said I had to create /boot partition separately as it reported that /boot/efi is needed(as good as I can remember). Else, it wouldn't proceed. After creation, installation was done. Now, the default boot still showed 2 windows listing. Only after pressing Esc, I had to enter the ssd partition where I could see centos boot listings as attached. I got the the windows loader listed after I ran grub2-mkconfig
As shown below:

download/file.php?mode=view&id=2540

Now, when I am trying to boot to windows, it takes me to the selection of windows listings as above, but if I select, it says it cannot find os.

download/file.php?mode=view&id=2542

(1) Any way, can I retrieve windows now or do I must install again?
(2) Can I have a default bootloader which should show all the unified listings there?
(3) Just in case, if I have to reinstall, what should be the way to do it? As I don't want to do the same mistake again.

Thanks a lot,
Sudip
