Laptop keyboard periodic crashes

Hi everyone,
I have done some research and I couldn't find anything that's why am coming to this forum.
I have an HP laptop with centos 7 installed. Everything was working fine until yesterday. Am not sure why as I wasn't even installing any package.
Right now am having a disabled sign showing up on my screen and the keyboard is not working. After sometimes it disappears on its own and reapers within a few seconds. The keyboard works for like a couple of seconds and then crashes.
The last package that I installed was vlc, I removed it but am still having the same issue.
I did a yum update as well but all the packages are up-to-date.
Could you please help me figure out what's wrong as am starting with centos.
