CentOS 7 - Auto-Mount for SATA Hot Swappable Drives

Post by Jestav » 2019/01/18 20:47:51

Hey All,

I'm still new to Centos 7 and I'm having an issue with auto-mounting SATA Hard drives. I'm wondering if anyone can help me with this or point me in the right direction. If a posted on the wrong forum, I apologize.

To start I'm using I'm using CentOS Linux release 7.4.1708 (Core).

I have updated the latest epel-release in this version and I have also installed installed ntfs-3g. As it stands, my device & CentOS can read USBs that I plug in and auto mounts / unmounts them. However, the problem I'm having is that I have a CRU Bay Hard Drive Reader which is attached directly to a SATA port on my Dell T630 motherboard and when I plug in a Hard Drive, CentOS 7 sees the drive but it does not auto mount it to /media/??? . I have multiple hard drives so I almost never input the same hard drive.

I get the following in dmesg when I input a drive:
[101139.135809] ata5: exception Emask 0x10 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x4040000 action 0xe frozen

[101147.406953] sdc:

I can manually mount the the drive myself but I need the OS to be able to auto mount any hard drives i input into /media/ and unmount them when I remove them.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for this issue i'm having?

Thank you all.
