Good afternoon,
I have some PCs running CentOS Linux release 7.6.1810, kernel 3.10.0-957.5.1.el7.x86_64. "GNOME Desktop" is installed and "graphical.target" is set as default.
Users have to access it from windows machines using putty (X11 is activated) and x-win32 (command from xwin32 : /bin/sh -c "exec -l $SHELL -c '/usr/bin/gnome-session'")
The problem is that the gnome-session doesn't work. Nothing happens and I get the following mail from ABRT :
[abrt] xdg-desktop-portal: xdg-desktop-portal killed by SIGSEGV
reason: xdg-desktop-portal killed by SIGSEGV
cmdline: /usr/libexec/xdg-desktop-portal
executable: /usr/libexec/xdg-desktop-portal
package: xdg-desktop-portal-1.0.2-1.el7
component: xdg-desktop-portal
pid: 30269
...
Using the same configuration with rhel6 it works.
Any suggestion?
Thank you
gnome-session centos7
Re: gnome-session centos7
Gnome in CentOS 7 requires 3D acceleration in the graphics. Gnome in CentOS-6 has no such requirement.
Try with the XFCE desktop in CentOS-7. That does not require 3D acceleration.

Re: gnome-session centos7
Thanks a bunch!!
You're right XFCE is the best solution to do such things. Light and powerfull.
I Hope my Windows users won't whip me.
