Password length in Sharing

Post by jfha73 » 2019/04/17 21:44:57

Hey guys,

I was just setting up Sharing on CentOS 7.5, but when I tried to put a password it only let me put up to 8 chars long, no more, is there a way to change that so it can be longer than 8?

Thanks.

Where are you setting the password and how? There is no such length restriction and what's in login.defs just controls the minimum, there doesn't seem to be an equivalent max setting.

Oh, and 7.5 is out of date, run yum update to get to 7.6.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Unfortunately I cannot update to 7.6 because of a driver issue, I'm setting up Sharing in the Control Center so I can vnc://1.2.3.4 the CentOS.
