How to download from repo manually (Offline Server Installs)

Post by SashaPawzz » 2019/04/26 17:32:29

Hello everyone.

I'm working with a CentOS 7 64-bit server, that is kept offline for testing, security among other reasons.

What I am trying to figure out, and I'm hoping I might be able to get some help with, is the following:

1. Is it possible to download the programs, files, dependencies, etc. that you would find in a repository manually on a windows machine?
2. Is it possible to download these files easily?

I may end up having more questions as this thread develops, but this is where I am currently stuck, as most of the information I keep finding online keeps pointing me to using yum to automatically download and install thru CentOS.

Thank you!

Yes, but it's hard natively. Use Linux, so much easier.

You talking about mirroring a website - yum et al are using http(s) for all these operations - it's simple and elegant.
Have a look at the --spider argument for wget (man wget).
rsync is probably the better solution, but it seem you are a bit of a newbie and wget is simpler (IMO).
