NVME Kernel Panic - not syncing: Fatal exception

Post by svenyo85 » 2019/08/19 15:26:09

Hello,
I'm new to CentOS and I'm facing a similar issue by trying to install the current version 7.6-1810 from dvd (see attached picture). I've tried that acpi stuff already, but it didn't help. Are there any other things that can help here?

Your easiest option will be to wait for 7.7 to drop. This is a kernel bug that affects nvme devices and the fix is not available until the 7.7 kernel. You could try installing 7.5 if you're in a hurry and see if that works but if it does then make sure you do not update the kernel because it will break again. The CentOS Plus kernel has the fix for it too but there is no installation media containing that kernel.
CentOS 5 died in March 2017 - migrate NOW!
CentOS 6 goes EOL sooner rather than later, get upgrading!
