7.7.1908 Estimated Release Date?

Post by TestUser95 » 2019/09/13 17:28:39

Hi all,

Does anyone have an estimated release date for 7.7.1908? We're trying to decide whether to test and release the systemd patches from /cr or wait for 7.7.1908. We're getting pressure from management to make the decision soon. Since it looks like major milestones have been reached toward 7.7.1908 today: https://wiki.centos.org/About/Building_7, I figured now would be a good time to ask. I'm not looking to pin down a firm date, just looking for a rough estimate so we can make an informed decision. Thank you in advance.

I guess if there was an ETA it would be posted on that page.

But in any case, I would recommend using the CR packages. They are 1:1 the same packages that will end up in 7.7.1908. You do not get any advantage by waiting until 7.7.1908 is released.

With the exception of centos-release and anaconda, what's in CR now is what will be 7.7.

Thanks, all. That helps. I'll inform our management that the systemd rpms that are in /cr now will not be modified during the remaining 7.7.1908 release tasks, hence systemd in /cr now will be systemd in 7.7.1908.

That is indeed the 100% correct interpretation.

7.7.1908 appears to be replicating to the mirrors now. My guess is as soon as it has reached most or all mirrors it will be officially announced.
