Re: Problem boot CentOS after migration from VMWare to Hyper-V

Hi all,

I had to convert with VMWare Converter to VMDK Workstation, and then from VMDK to VHDX.
Tryed to convert with Starwind directly, but i receive an error, when starwind tryed to connect to Vsphere, and i think it as to be with the vsphere license that is the free version, and don't have the appis necessary to make the conversion directly.

I could try another app to convert the VM.
Can anyone, with this scenario advise any other app to convert the 2 CentOS VMs?

Thank you!

Solved the problem the following way:
Installed in VM in the VMWare Hyper-V tools:
mkinitrd -f -v --with=hid-hyperv --with=hv_utils --with=hv_vmbus --with=hv_storvsc --with=hv_netvsc /boot/initramfs-$(uname -r).img $(uname -r)

Download from VMWare the files (vmdk and -flat.vmdk).

Converted the -flat.vmdk (not .vmdk), with starwind.

Created a GEN 1 Hyper-V File and the disk was in IDE controller.

The machine booted fine and updated from 7.4 to 7.7.

So I think the issue as to be with choosing the vmdk and not the flat-vmdk.

Thank you all.
