Post by khalil19200 » 2023/10/04 20:33:54

Hello guys,

i have a problem and im not very good at this, so im on centos6.10 and Python 2.6.6 i have a problem when i want to upgrade yum : libdb-4.7.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Please install a package which provides this module, or
verify that the module is installed correctly.

It's possible that the above module doesn't match the
current version of Python, which is:
2.6.6 (r266:84292, Jun 20 2019, 14:14:55)
[GCC 4.4.7 20120313 (Red Hat 4.4.7-23)]
i have forgotten about this website and now i can't do nothing. please help.

I'm afraid that CentOS 6 of any version has been dead and buried for at least 3 years. You need to get off it ASAP and onto something newer that is still supported. If you are trying to run something recent and it is complaining about libdb being the wrong version then it's most likely because it's been built to run on a supported CentOS version not 6.

Bottom line, you need to run something else entirely, not CentOS 6 which went end of life at the end of 2020 - about 3 years ago. It's not safe to run CentOS 6. Install something newer and migrate over to that.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
