Use the nux-dextop yum repository. http://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/Repositories
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

if not enough?
Install all of them for codecs...

There is almost no third party repo support for the 32 bit intel architecture (or indeed for anything other than x86_64).
