CentOS not workin after software update

Recently after I logged on to my centos machine, I noticed that none of my desktop shortcuts were showing up. A few minutes later, I got an error message "A problem has occurred and the system can't recover. Please log out and try again." After logging back in and even a hard power off and reboot, I still got the error message. Thinking it had something to so with a recent software update, I checked the software updater, which informed me that I had an uncompleted transaction. So I ran "sudo yum-complete-transaction", however I got the error message halfway through the update so I ran the command in CLI mode instead. After it completed, my software updater says I am up to date on everything, yet I still get the error message every few minutes. Any help is appreciated, thanks!
