[Solved] KDE can't start applications from launcher

Post by Fighter19 » 2015/04/09 17:50:37

Hi there, I just did a fresh install of CentOS 7 on my Laptop.
I have some problems with KDE.
The First is that if I start applications from the launcher, they don't show up. They are started, they show up in the taskbar, but there is no way to get the window.
This can be hotfixed by rightclicking the Desktop and starting Konsole. Afterwards you can resume as normal
The second problem, (which I think is related to it), is that it seems I can't get HW accelerated rendering working for KDE. I choose Composite: OpenGL and System:Raster (Native will lead into an error message saying it could not be set). It remains until next login.
The machine runs on a NVidia 530m and an Intel HD Graphics 5800 (if I remember correctly)
Thank you in advantage.
EDIT:
Forgot to mention: glxinfo outputs the used GPU is the intel card. It also says direct rendering is working, also 3D acceleration seems to work with glxgears/glxspheres64
EDIT2:
Solved it, I had to enable compositing by turning it on by modifying the config file. (~/.kde/share/config/kwinrc) You can test it before by using Alt+Shift+F12. (If compositing is working).
That actually also fixed the application not starting from the launcher.
