Hi all,
I tried to install NVIDIA driver for GTX 1070 on my computer (with centOS 7) and after a lot of struggle, finally could block nouveau driver and install the NVIDIA one. However, at the last step, when I rebooted the computer to go to graphical interface, I see a lot of lines with green OK and with a having a lot of started .... with a final line started crash recovery kernel arming. It stops here and then does not process to GUI. Could anyone of you kindly let me know how to bring the GUI from this step?
(PS: I have no formal education in Linux operating system and usually learn from internet, forums etc).
Please do not hesitate to ask me more questions, if you wish.
Best.

Re: started crash recovery kernel arming
Just a quick update:
Now the last line reads started Postfix mail transport agent.
Could someone provide insight about how to resolve this?
Thanks.

Re: started crash recovery kernel arming
The bit about crash recovery sounds like you had a kernel crash and it was dumping it for you.
If postfix is listed as the last thing now starting up then it sounds like your system is working but the video is not. Try connecting via ssh and it will probably connect. Also try ctrl-alt-f2 to switch to a different console and see if you have a cli login waiting.

The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Re: started crash recovery kernel arming
Thank you for your reply TrevorH.
I was wondering if you could let me know a bit more on how to do this (considering that I am not much of an expert in this)?

Hi trevorH,
What if I have to use GUI? Can you suggest how to go from Postfix mail transport agent to GUI?
