Scanning with sane gives "invalid argument"

Post by odysseus » 2017/05/08 02:54:24

I have detected my scanner and it shows in the list, but all attempts at scanning gives "invalid argument", also with xsane. It`s an Epson Perfection V600 Photo.

[arun-g@macbook-air ~]$ scanimage -L
device `epson:libusb:001:002' is a Epson flatbed scanner
[arun-g@macbook-air ~]$ scanimage --format png > test.png
scanimage: rounded value of br-x from -32768 to -32768
scanimage: rounded value of br-y from -32768 to -32768
scanimage: sane_start: Invalid argument
[arun-g@macbook-air ~]$

I solved the scanner problem by installing Vuescan and paying for it! Seems like my scanner is not supported with SANE.

I've had that error on sane here and it was something to do with the size it had been told to scan, hence the errors about setting x and y values to -32768. I don't recall exactly what I changed to fix it but it was an easy settings tweak to do with image size.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

I found out my scanner works with SANE, but you have to install this package from Epson: https://download2.ebz.epson.net/iscan/p ... rpm.tar.gz

You have to have this package for VueScan to work also, they pointed me to the right place so it was worth the license.
