[solved] mono 5 breaking apps, how to stay on mono 4
Hi there,
I use Centos 7 as my media server and 2 programs don't work with mono 5 and higher.
So, I wonder, how to I do system updates without getting mono updated, and how would i install mono extra locals version 4 and not 5?
Thanks a lot for your help
Dirk

Re: mono 5 breaking apps, how to stay on mono 4
CentOS doesn't ship mono at all. It comes from EPEL and that is shipping only version 4 packages at the present time.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

Re: mono 5 breaking apps, how to stay on mono 4
hmmm, when I run yum update it wants to install mono 5, I have my home server running on a USB stick mounting a BTRFS raid 0, and I had to use my backup usb to fix it after my first backup.TrevorH wrote:CentOS doesn't ship mono at all. So, someone is providing mono 5 for me.

On your listing each line contains five fields:
You do use more than just CentOS repositories and EPEL. Do:
Then
and probably
Code: Select all
packagename arch version repo size
You do use more than just CentOS repositories and EPEL. Do:
Code: Select all
yum repolist
Code: Select all
yum-config-manager mono
Code: Select all
yum-config-manager --disable mono
Re: mono 5 breaking apps, how to stay on mono 4
You got me there, I used everything what helped me to setup the home server the way I wanted it and I might have made some chaos there. You do use more than just CentOS repositories and EPEL
I am very glad and happy about the Centos community, I have just been banned from the Debian Forum for telling off a Forum troll/bully. So Debian, will nevr get any recommendation from me ever again with their nazi rules for their forum, glad I am out there.
However, back to the chaos I created and your very appreciated help, will try and provide feedback about the success
And thanks again for your help

Sadly not working
How can I get access to the repo list and take a rep which doesn't work anymore out?

Code: Select all
$ rpm -qf $(which yum-config-manager)

The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
