yum update error

Hello all,

I am new to CentOS,

I did yum update on my machine and it showed a long list of errors..

How can i get the issue solved???

Looking at that lot, it looks to me like you are running CentOS 6 and have added the nux-dextop repo to it but have used the wrong nux-dextop-release package. You appear to have installed nux for CentOS 7 (el7) not for el6. You need to do the following

yum clean all
yum remove nux-dextop-release
<download correct el6 nux-dextop-release rpm package>
yum install /path/to/nux-dextop-release...el6.rpm
yum update
Is there any particular reason why you didn't install CentOS 7?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

I did not choose to install CentOS 7 on this machine as i did not like its flashy look and the GUI seems very complicated to me. This is my personal opinion. You can see this issue with Windows users also. Some users do not like their look of Win 10 and 8.1.

I agree that some software upgrades will work better on latest versions but the desktop view and file explorer capabilities of centos 6 are still very easy and helpful for me.

nux-desktop- could not be removed from my machine..

Instead, i masked it using
yum-config-manager --disable nux-dextop

and

yum-config-manager --save --setopt=nux-dextop.skip_if_unavailable=true


Now yum update is working...!!

I will still give a second try to uninstall the older nux-desktop...

You can get the look and feel of CentOS 6 on CentOS 7 by installing the MATE desktop group from the EPEL repo. It's a fork of gnome2 rather than the gnome3 that CentOS 7 uses.
