Centos 7 + FF 52.3.0 ESR + Flash 27 + Codec
Centos 7 + FF 52.3.0 ESR + Flash 27 + Codec
Hi there,
Something interesting is happening then using FF 52.3.0 ESR + Adobe flash 27.
When playing a flash browser game, namely Settlers Online, codecs seemed to stop working. Youtube stutters and playing any movie files seems to load but not start to play (you can scroll back and forth though the movie OK but it doesn't start), Good old VLC seems to work (I'm assuming they use their own codecs) smplayer and default "videos" (i believe totem) suffers from this problem.
As soon as you come out of Settlers Online the all video players seemed to behave.
As soon as you go back into TSO, the problem starts again.
I've done two fresh installs with the same problems every time.
Any ideas how to solve it?

Re: Centos 7 + FF 52.3.0 ESR + Flash 27 + Codec
Have you tried with older version of flash ?
Does the game support HTML5?
Try to run firefox as regular user from command line.Any errors/warnings will be shown there once you open the game.

Re: Centos 7 + FF 52.3.0 ESR + Flash 27 + Codec
Thanks for the reply.
It does defiantly be tied down to flash. I have tried Ubuntu and Feddy both exhibit the same issue.
As soon as I log off of TSO back to their home page (non flash) I am able to play media again oddly enough it does not happen if using chromium & pepper flash.
Also if you start up a video player BEFORE flash is started then the video continues to play
Unfortunately the game is Flash and most if not all the players wish it were HTML 5 but we are where we are.
Does anyone know any websites that are "heavy" with flash to determin if it is flash or the game?
Thanks

Re: Centos 7 + FF 52.3.0 ESR + Flash 27 + Codec
Have you tried to start firefox from command line to check for any warnings/errors generated by the game?
Re: Centos 7 + FF 52.3.0 ESR + Flash 27 + Codec
Now that is interesting,,,,
The pipe error (untitled 1.jpg) popped up when the flash was initialized.
The second long notice (untitled 2.jpg) was generated once game play started.

You're not using the CentOS supplied firefox so you need to ask in a Mozilla forum. Or uninstall what you have and replace it with firefox 52 ESR that we ship.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Re: Centos 7 + FF 52.3.0 ESR + Flash 27 + Codec
Just completed a Fresh install of CentOS 7,
Updated:
Installed Media codes:
Installed Flash
Flash version installed is version 27.0.r0
No add-ons installed to Firefox ESR
i started Firefox from the terminal. no errors reported during flash operation. As you can see from the screen shot I am able to load a video and scroll though it but it wont play. Oddly enough as soon as i come out of the Flash session in Firefox the video starts from the position it is at. I can go back into the flash session in Firefox and the video continues to play but there is no sound on the flash session only the playing video.
There are no error reports on the terminal

Re: Centos 7 + FF 52.3.0 ESR + Flash 27 + Codec
i have a feeling it is The Settlers Online website causing the problems.
I have been to http://www.mono-1.com/monoface/main.html it seems quite a heavy flash dependant site and that doesn't affect the codecs or video playback.
Does this seem a fair test site for Flash?
