Hello Raffaele,

This is a good read https://access.redhat.com/documentation ... d-x86.html

So you are trying to do manual partitioning during the CentOS install? The root partition "/" is the top level directory and the home "/home" is the partition that is used for user specific files.

Thanks for your replay and for the link
if I understand correctly
centos-root partition is the partition where the system store program
centos-home is the partition where the systema create the users home.
If so in what partition the system create the home of root? (/root)

In my child pc I have installed 2 disk a ssd (240 GB) and hhd ( 750GB) (In hdd is still installed the previuos centos7 system)
Now I want to install centos 7 in ssd and use hdd for home and data.

If I want to store the home directory in hdd is more convenient create the system as you have only a disk and in a second time create a simbolik link to the home folder of the other muonted disk or is better to create the system using 2 disk?

thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english

Hi Raffaele,

If I understand what you're wanting to do, I'd say that creating the system using both disks is the way to go.

If you do this at boot-time, just remember that you'll be asked if you want to format that hard drive with the Cent already on it!

You can, of course, mount that hard drive under the "home" directory at any time after creating the system. It's just the permissions you'll need to pay attention to. If your child is the same UID on both systems, you can edit the /etc/passwd file and point him to his old directory on that old hard drive (after it's mounted).

Best of luck with the project!
