Hi there. Running Centos 7.4 now. It came with xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.19.3-11.el7.x86_64
However the AMD drivers refuse to work stating:
error: Detected X Server version 'XServer 1.19.3_64a' is not supported. Supported versions are X.Org 6.9 or later, up to XServer 1.10 (default:v2:x86_64:lib:XServer 1.19.3_64a:none:3.10.0-693.el7.x86_64:)
Unfortunately I already bought this expensive P.O.S. ATI 6870.
So how can I downgrade xorg to the driver's liking?
Many thanks,

Re: Downgrading the xorg server
Xserver 1.10 is pretty old. CentOS 7.0 came with 1.15 and we're on 1.19 now. Are you sure you have the latest driver version?
Re: Downgrading the xorg server
I have the same problem. The latest fglrx driver for AMD Radeon video doesn't work with the latest kernel and with a few past too. Then I tried to install the suggested amdgpu-pro driver ( of course the latest available version 17.40), but it does require old xserver version, sad...
BTW, how can i force to use built in Intel graphics?

Re: Downgrading the xorg server
Thanks a lot! The latest release solved the problem.
Actually, I ran into the problem a week ago, just before the latest release of the driver, and didn't think that AMD will fix it so fast
