Serial Console Quiet Boot

Post by dcrdev » 2018/01/08 20:05:39

I've enabled a serial console in the grub configuration file because I'd like to script the unlocking of several dm-crypt disks. Due to the amount of encrypted disks attached to the system, I have to have quiet booting enabled because otherwise each disk gets a separate password prompt making it difficult to enter the passphrase.

The trouble I'm having is that when I enable the serial console, the system boots in verbose mode - both on the console and via serial. Is there a way to force quiet booting in this situation?

I already had specified "quiet" in the kernel parameters.

Thanks
