That is not the way that RHEL and CentOS do things.

Why would you need a newer version? Note that security fixes get backported to the versions shipped by RHEL/CentOS.

Yeah, sure, but if someone asks "how can I shoot myself in the foot", the appropriate response is not "aim and pull the trigger" but something along the lines of "why would you want to do that, it would probably hurt".

Red Hat keeps the deprecated BIND versions usable. If you want to use a version not shipped by RH/CentOS, feel free to do so, but you'll need to get them from some other source than CentOS repos.

I don't usually do this, but I think I'll lock this topic now so that this does not degenerate into pointless arguing about the backporting employed by RH/CentOS. Thanks for your interest in this topic.
